Workshop 1
Fluoride Application – An effective intervention for Dental care in patients undergoing Radiotherapy!
  • Radiation-related caries are one the most undesired reactions manifested during or after head and neck radiotherapy.
  • Fluoride application is an important strategy to meet these challenges and decrease side effects of radiation and chemotherapy on dentition.
Objective
  • Participants will learn about role of Fluoride in Prevention of radiation induced caries
  • Role of Fluorides in maintaining the dental health
  • Basic principle, protocol and various techniques for fluoride application
Workshop 2
Biopsy – A barrier for Dental Professionals in Early Detection
  • Biopsy is an integral diagnostic test that can be done in routine dental OPDs
  • It is imperative that every dental professional should be equipped with skills of basic biopsy techniques.
Objective
  • Participants will learn about all biopsy techniques and their respective indications.
  • Biopsy techniques will be demonstrated on patients (subject to availability) and all participants will be taught to perform on models.
Workshop 3
Laser Application in OPMDs: A technological boost to your conventional practice
  • Oral premalignant lesions of the oral cavity such as leukoplakia and erythroplakia remain a diagnostic and treatment challenge.
  • Laser treatment has been a well-established modality for management of premalignant lesions
Objective
  • Participants will learn about different types of lasers and its application in maxillofacial surgery, advantages and disadvantages of laser treatment
  • Use of CO2 laser in treatment of OPMD will be demonstrated on patient (as per availability) and participants will get chance to perform it on animal model
Workshop 4
Prosthetic Rehabilitation
  • In multidisciplinary approach to treatment of oral cancer patients, often Rehabilitation aspect is neglected.
  • Prosthodontic rehabilitation can significantly improve the quality of life for patients after oral cancer treatment.
  • There is huge lack of trained dental specialists for successful rehabilitation of cancer survivors.
Objective
  • A session and video demonstration on various types of maxillofacial prosthesis (conventional/ implant supported, fixed/removable)
  • Demonstration of technique for fabrication of basic intra oral prosthesis

Newer Diagnostic Adjuncts
  • During the past decade there has been substantial growth in technological advancement that has widely impacted filed of Oral cancer to detect in the earliest stage. To meet the challenges of better outcome participants will learn how to detect with variety of innovative technologies.
